WaTale is a desktop application developed by Watale Studio. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

2. Information We Collect

Wishlist Sign-Up

If you join our wishlist, we collect your email address. This is stored securely in Azure Table Storage and used solely to notify you about WaTale updates and releases.

Website Analytics

If you consent, this website uses Azure Application Insights (a Microsoft service) to collect anonymous usage data such as page views, browser type, and general performance metrics. This data helps us understand how the site is used and improve your experience. Application Insights may also process your IP address, which Microsoft truncates and anonymises in accordance with their data handling policies.

Analytics are only activated after you give explicit consent via the cookie banner displayed on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics scripts are loaded, no cookies are set, and no usage data is collected.

Desktop Application

WaTale runs entirely on your device. Your stories, characters, and creative content are stored locally and are never uploaded to our servers. The application may connect to third-party AI providers (e.g., for text or image generation) based on your configuration — those interactions are governed by the respective provider's privacy policy.

3. Cookies & Consent

What cookies do we use?

When you accept analytics, Application Insights sets the following cookies:

• ai_user — a unique anonymous user identifier (expires after 1 year)
• ai_session — a session identifier (expires after 30 minutes of inactivity)

These cookies do not contain personal information and cannot be used to identify you as an individual.

Consent preference

Your consent choice is stored in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) under the key watale_cookie_consent. You can change your preference at any time by clicking "Cookie Settings" in the footer of any page.

What happens if you decline?

If you decline cookies, Application Insights is fully disabled. No analytics scripts are loaded, no cookies are set, and no data about your visit is collected or transmitted to Microsoft.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To send you product updates and release notifications (wishlist emails only)
• To improve the WaTale application and website

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Storage & Security

Wishlist data is stored in Microsoft Azure infrastructure. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including the GDPR), you have the right to:

• Withdraw your cookie consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer
• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data
• Object to or request restriction of processing
• Request data portability where applicable

You may request deletion of your email from our wishlist at any time by contacting us. We will remove your data promptly upon request.

7. Third-Party Services

The WaTale desktop application may integrate with third-party AI services for content generation. We do not control the data practices of these providers. Please review their respective privacy policies before use.

8. Age Restriction & Children's Privacy

WaTale is intended for users aged 18 and over (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). The application includes AI-powered features that can generate mature or explicit content, including nudity.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Your continued use of WaTale after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
